Reuters: Florida nabs white supremacists planning "race war"

-By Barbara Liston

May 8, 2012- Ten alleged members of a white supremacist group training near Orlando and Disney World for a "race war" have been rounded up in a series of arrests in central Florida, authorities said on Tuesday.

The arrests were based on evidence from a confidential informant who infiltrated the neo-Nazi organization known as the American Front 17 months ago, according to an arrest affidavit.

"The American Front (AF) is a military-styled, anti-Semitic, white supremacist, skinhead organization and is known as a domestic terrorist organization," the affidavit said.

It said the group's alleged local ringleader, Marcus Faella, 39, had been "planning and preparing the AF for what he believes to be an inevitable race war" and had stated "his intent ... to kill Jews, immigrants and other minorities."

Huffington Post: Romney Blows His Chance at a "No, Ma'am" Moment

-By Michael Bard

May 7, 2012- Mitt Romney had a chance Monday to demonstrate to the American people that he was more than an opportunistic mercenary who would say anything to win the White House. And he failed. Miserably.

Put another way, he blew his chance at a "No, ma'am" moment.

On October 10, 2008, less than a month before the presidential election, and with his standing falling in the polls in the wake of the collapse of Lehman Brothers, John McCain fielded a question at a town hall meeting in Minnesota from a woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh -- he's an Arab."

Orlando Sentinel: White supremacists trained with AK-47s, planned for 'inevitable' race war, affidavit says

-By Jeff Weiner & Henry Pierson Curtis

May 7, 2012- Five miles from the nearest paved road, on a compound surrounded by barbed wire in a desolate area of Osceola County, investigators say, Marcus Faella was preparing his troops for war.

Race war.

Faella — who sees himself and his compatriots as "protectors of the white race" — was convinced it was "inevitable" and planned to kill Jews, immigrants and minorities, according to a recently filed affidavit. As they trained in firearm and hand-to-hand combat, members of the white-supremacist group American Front discussed acts of violence and disruption with targets including Orlando's City Hall, authorities allege.

They also discussed manufacturing ricin, the affidavit says, a deadly poison "which is categorized as a Weapon of Mass Destruction."

Why Anyone Should Care that Bill O’Reilly Calls Me A Communist

-By Robert Reich

April 23, 2012- Bill O’Reilly, the tumescent personality of Fox News, said on his Friday show “Robert Reich is a communist who secretly adores Karl Marx.” (This came after Fox News’ Neil Cavoto called me a “sanctimonious twit” for suggesting the rich should pay more in taxes.)

O’Reilly’s accusation is odd, to say the least. If we were living in the 1950s, amid Senator Joe McCarthy’s communist witch-hunts, the claim might have some bite and cause me injury. But these days it’s hard to find a full-throated communist anywhere in the world.

O’Reilly’s accusation isn’t even logical. How can he know if I secretly adore Karl Marx, if it’s a secret?
