9/25/07 - Since 2003, Sudanese President al-Bashir and his Arab
Janjaweed militias have systematically destroyed the African population
of Darfur killing almost a half million people, displacing another three
million and causing millions to be dependent upon foreign food aid. Yet it
has taken four years for George Bush to impose limited economic sanctions
on Sudan while coddling the Chinese/Sudan oil machine. A UN sponsored no-fly
zone would have stopped the killing long ago. But Bush is asking the
UN for more economic sanctions. This is not leadership and it’s a little
too late. We don’t need more speeches. We need a no-fly zone and
if the UN won’t do it, the US should. Hold Bush accountable for
failing to act decisively to stop the Darfur genocide. Call Congress today,
contact the media and make some noise to demand a no-fly zone and criminal
prosecutions of those directly responsible for this genocide.

3/16/07 - New VR Ad In New York Times – Don’t Attack Iran
Today VR launched a powerful new ad on the New York Times editorial page
demanding that Congress Members and military officers stop an attack on
Iran. This ad is to coincide with the huge anti-war rallies this week across
the country, including the candlelight vigil at the White House by Christian
leaders tonight and tomorrow’s demonstration at the Pentagon. The ad can be
downloaded here

2/8/07 - VR's New Hard Hitting War Crimes Ad Debuts Today
VR has launched a new ad that will appear today in full page spreads in the Washington,
DC City Paper and the Crawford, Texas Lonestar Iconoclast warning those who support an
attack on Iran that they will be accomplices to war crimes. The ad asserts that Congress
Members and Generals must take that long overdue trip to the White House and demand that
George Bush resign. The complete text is below and you can download it here.
Saddam Hussein and his henchmen were hanged for committing crimes against humanity –
a war crime. George Bush has committed war crimes in Iraq by attacking and destroying
that sovereign country and causing the death of hundreds of thousands of children,
citizens and soldiers on the basis of lies.
Now Bush and his cronies are preparing for more war crimes, this time against
Iran -- an unprovoked, aggressive war, as in Iraq, which is called a "crime against
peace." This is the most serious crime of all – the same crime for which Nazi
leaders were hanged.
They have drawn up plans to use nuclear weapons against Iranian nuclear power
facilities. The Geneva Conventions prohibit the bombing of such "inherently
dangerous" targets because the fallout can kill millions of innocents.
Moreover, international jurists have ruled that the use of such weapons is a crime
against humanity because of the indiscriminate horror, death, destruction and
fallout they cause.
Bush has repeatedly stated that all of these criminal options "are on the
table," yet it is much more than that. He has ordered Patriot missile
batteries and aircraft carrier groups to the region. He has raided Iranian
diplomatic compounds and arrested their diplomats. He has accused Iran of
supporting the Iraq insurgency and then stated that he would "seek out and
destroy the networks providing advanced weaponry and training to our enemies in Iraq."
Bush prepares for nuclear war while he rejects all calls for diplomacy. He
refuses to listen to the American people, members of Congress, the Iraq Study
Group, his own generals and intelligence officials, or our allies abroad.
In the Cuban Missile Crisis, President Kennedy confronted a real and imminent
threat, defused it and preserved the peace and the strength of America. Now
Bush concocts a false and distant threat, rejects rationality and fans the flames
of nuclear war.
Congress Members and Military Generals, if you don’t act to stop Bush’s dangerous
and reckless conduct, you will be accomplices to war crimes. History will judge you
harshly. You cannot wait. Bush can use any incident as a pretext to attack Iran.
You must follow the Watergate precedent when Republican leaders went to the White
House and demanded that Nixon resign. Tell Bush that the jig is up and that he and
his cronies must resign immediately or face criminal prosecution.

8/16/05 - VelvetRevolution.us
("VR") today launched a long-term advertisement and awareness campaign to
galvanize American citizens into taking their country back from those
who believe that they are untouchable and unaccountable. This campaign
will graphically show that those in power have lost touch with real people
through a pattern of lies, corruption, fear mongering, incompetence,
indifference and arrogance.
The first ad will appear today as a full two-page spread in the Crawford,
Texas Iconoclast newspaper
and will be delivered to the President's ranch during his long five-week
vacation. Cindy Sheehan and hundreds of others opposed to Iraq war are
protesting nearby and they will all be given free copies of the paper.
VR supports Cindy and her cause, and she was originally interviewed on June 18th
by VR co-founder Brad Friedman on his BRAD
SHOW radio program. Cindy's son Casey was killed five days after
arriving in Iraq in what the President calls a "noble cause." Now,
however, in light of the Downing
Street Memos, the world knows that the war was based on lies and deception.
Today's ad says: DON'T LOOK FOR THESE NAMES AMONG THE DEAD AND WOUNDED,
and lists on Dog Tags the names of Jenna Bush, David Wolfowitz, Elizabeth
Cheney, Valerie Rumsfeld, along with their religious affiliation. Below it
says, "Our children have to die so Chicken Hawk children can stay home and
get richer? Take back the White House for Americans who know the value
of human life. Come to www.VelvetRevolution.us."
VR will place other hard-hitting ads throughout the country and on the
Internet to raise awareness about:
the Iraq war based on lies,
the Downing Street Memos,
the rigged election of 2004,
the failure to heed pre-911 warnings,
corrupt vote machine companies,
war profiteering,
torture as a policy,
illegal outing of intelligence officials
the corrupt Iraq election.
These ads will appear in newspapers, magazines, billboards,
transit shelters, bus and rail cars, and on dozens of web
sites in order to reach the most people.
Please donate here
because your donations will determine how many of these ads can run.
VR wants to have continuous ads in hundreds of venues over the next
18 months. Avenging Angels Inc.
will create all of the ads.
